September 2025 – January 2026
Bituin Studios, SOMA San Francisco
August 26, 2025 (Oakland, CA) – Bituin Studios presents “Temple of the Filipinx Diaspora”, the inaugural solo exhibition of artist Jy Jimmie F. Gabiola. This exhibition gathers together photography, installation, and futurist interventions that explore the complexities of migration, memory, and belonging within the Filipinx diaspora. Rooted in personal reverence and ancestral memory, Gabiola’s work approaches the camera as a spiritual tool—one that not only documents, but also consecrates.
Temple of the Filipinx Diaspora transforms the gallery into a sanctuary for reflection and reverence, creating space for both intimate narratives and collective futures. Central to the exhibition is Birthing Futures, a lumen print of studio co-founder & healer, Jenn Ban, presented alongside recent projects developed during residencies with KALA Art Institute and KulArts Tributur 2025. Together, these works meditate on what it means to build a temple out of fragments—images, curiosities, and stories carried across oceans and generations.
Opening Ceremony: September 26 2025, 6pm - 10pm, Bituin Studio.

About the Artist
Born in Manila, Philippines, and currently based in Oakland, CA, Jy Jimmie Gabiola is a queer image-making poet and interdisciplinary artist. Their practice is concerned with the concept of latency created from the immigrant experience—an oscillation between longing for forgotten cultural identities and deconstructing American experience through the Filipinx diaspora. Their work has been featured in exhibitions at Berkeley Art Center (Archives Yet to Come), SF Camerawork (Forecast 2024 Honorable Mention) QILIG x San Francisco Public Library (Diasporic Intimacies), and various community-based art initiatives.
